Pilot Plant Scale

In our pilot plant, entire plant components are replicated true to scale and their hydraulic behaviour analysed in detail. There are various vessels available with variable geometries and volumes from 2-15 m³. From the simple decolouration test through light section imaging it is possible to carry out residence time measurements in which residence time distributions can be recorded using marker substances and photometric evaluation in order to determine reactor behaviour.

With the data acquired from laboratory trials, scale-up models are refined at the pilot plant scale as a preliminary step towards the large scale. Rapid prototyping procedures in combination with measurement methods used in fluid mechanics enable the fast optimisation of mixing elements and vessel geometries.
